Did you know you have lacrosse professionals living, working, and coaching right here in your community? These hometown lacrosse heroes want to help you polish your lacrosse skills through a fun-filled, structured, enlightening program! Play Like a Pro Lacrosse carefully selects expert coaches who double as engaging role models for the campers and possess extensive player experience and coaching experience. This combination helps our coaching team connect with the players on multiple levels. Teaching extends beyond lacrosse and into life. Our camp will provide an atmosphere for young players to build skills and confidence to help them stand out in their local club or youth program, like a pro. It doesn't end at the camp, our professionals are willing to be resources to their campers before, during and after the camp to help them take the steps necessary to excel when they return to their teams, clubs, and other programs. Our dedicated Camp Director, Aimé Caines, a parent, local Minnesotan, long-time lacrosse veteran player and coach, ensures that the camp experience will be one to remember.

Your Hometown Pros

Aimé Caines

Caines, 37 (10/18/75), begins his fifth season of coaching with the Minnesota Swarm in 2013. He also serves as the Director of the Swarm's Youth Box League.

Prior to coaching, Caines spent five seasons in the NLL from 2001-05 with the Columbus Landsharks, Montreal Express and Buffalo Bandits. He tallied 110 points (52g, 58a), 82 PIM and 206 loose balls in his career as a forward.

Caines began playing lacrosse in Windsor, Ontario where he played minor lacrosse. He later played for five years in the junior “A” league with the Sarnia Pacers. The Windsor native also spent time in the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) for the New Westminster Salmonbellies and in the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) for the Brampton Excelsiors, Akwesasne Indians and Barrie Lakeshores.

Caines has been active in the local lacrosse community in his time with the Swarm. He serves as an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota and is the head coach at East Ridge High School. This past summer, he also directed youth lacrosse camps on the Fond du Lac and Prairie Island reservations in effort to help restore the tradition of lacrosse amongst Minnesota’s native population.

Caines and his wife, Brooke, have two sons, Carter and Declan. They currently reside in Woodbury, MN. His wife, Brooke is assisting with the marketing, development and launch of Play Like a Pro Lacrosse. She has 10+ years of Sports Marketing experience and currently works as a Marketer for FindLaw, a Thomson Reuters business.

 

Ryan Benesch

Born in Kitchener, Waterloo, Ontario, Ryan Benesch started playing lacrosse at the age of four for the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves. He then moved on to play five years of Jr “A” lacrosse for the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves Junior A team. Ryan’s lacrosse talent was recognized in the 2005 NLL draft when he was selected 1st overall by the San Jose Stealth. Ryan spent his first two NLL seasons playing for the Toronto Rock where he won the title “Rookie of the Year” in 2006. He was then traded to Edmonton to play for the Rush then to the Minnesota Swarm where he found his home. Ryan “Benny” Benesch has been playing with the Swarm for the past four years where he has made a highly recognized name for himself. His accomplishments while playing on the Swarm include “NLL Scoring Title” in 2010 and the “Minnesota Swarm All-Time Goal Scoring Leader in 2012” and 2-Time All-Star for the West division. Ryan now resides in St. Paul, Minnesota and since then has been active in the community working with youth lacrosse teams. He is currently one of the coaches for the Minnesota Swarm Junior Box lacrosse team.

 

Corbyn Tao

Corbyn Tao grew up on the west coast playing every sport a child could play beginning with lacrosse when he was only four years old. The sport of lacrosse became Corbyn’s biggest love and it brought him to where he is today. He later attended Western Reserve Academy, in Hudson, Ohio where he completed his high school diploma and played high school lacrosse for three years. During his junior year in 2006 his high school team won the MSLA championship and competed in the finals his senior year. During his summers he continued to play box lacrosse and played the majority of his Jr “A” career in Ontario with the Six Nations Arrows. He was fortunate enough to win a Minto Cup with the Arrows in 2007. Later that fall, Corbyn was accepted to Robert Morris University, in Pittsburgh PA, where he played Division I and was awarded a full ride scholarship to attend the business school. His freshman year at Robert Morris he received rookie accolades including “CAA Rookie of the Week” twice and making the “CAA All-Rookie” team at the end of the season. During the next two seasons he received numerous “Player of the Week” awards and made the “First team all North East Conference” in 2010. After graduating from Robert Morris in 2011 with a degree in Business Management, he was drafted 12th overall in the NLL to the Minnesota Swarm. Respectively, he was drafted 6th overall in the WLA to the New Westminster Salmonbellies. Corbyn Tao currently resides in St. Paul, MN and is active in the lacrosse community working with the Prairie Island Youth lacrosse team in the past and currently the Minnesota Swarm Junior Box team.
